Once again, the Louisiana Legislature failed to pass legislation to increase the state minimum wage, the lowest amount that employers may legally pay workers. The federal minimum wage, which has not increased since July 2009, remains at $7.25 an hour.

How safe is your workplace? Depending upon the type of business, you probably have safety rules and procedures, require safety equipment, etc., but do you have policies on workplace violence and security?

Finding employees in the current job market is challenging right now for all employers. Businesses used to be able to just post a “help wanted” sign in the window or run an advertisement in the local newspaper, but now it takes some creative recruiting techniques to find your next great hire.

Where did all the good employees go?  While it probably doesn’t make you feel any better, you are not alone if you are having difficulty finding and retaining employees.
