Though some aspects of life have managed to recover from the impact of Covid-19, the business sector will remain forever changed. While faced with a life-threatening pandemic, millions of Americans took the time to reevaluate their lives, specifically their jobs. In August 2021, 4.3 million Americans quit their jobs, according to the U.S Department of Labor. This cultural shift, coined the “Great Resignation,” will leave a lasting effect on the workplace.

As people crave a more fulfilling work-life, surveys show that many currently employed Americans continue to consider their resignations. In September 2021, a survey from Morning Consult for Prudential found that 46% of full-time employed U.S. adults are either actively looking for or considering a new job search.

Though the desire for a more meaningful profession was a driving force in this movement, some are considering a career break due to burnout brought on by the pandemic, while others are seeking a higher paycheck or the ability to continue working remotely at least part-time. As more employees decide to leave their jobs, many businesses are left scrambling for a solution.

In order to retain and attract employees, businesses must learn to bend. For instance, some businesses are implementing policies to combat employee burnout such as reducing the workweek from five days to four, closing their companies for a week at a time and instituting sabbatical leave. Despite their efforts, many businesses are unable to make these changes and continue to struggle with an understaffed workforce.

Fortunately, outsourcing provides an alternative solution. By outsourcing their business processes, employers can benefit from cost advantages, increased efficiency, access to skilled resources and more reliable and dedicated staff.
